Choosing a TODAMU Drone
Which TODAMU drone is best for beginners?
The right model depends on where you plan to fly and how much flight assistance you want.
The Wing Lite is a practical option for beginners who want GPS positioning, Return to Home and a controller with a built-in screen.
The H16 is designed for lower-cost, short-range practice, but it does not include GPS Return to Home.
Pilots looking for more advanced camera, obstacle avoidance and long-distance flight features may prefer the Wing One or WindForce X.
Do I need a phone to fly a TODAMU drone?
Most TODAMU camera drones include a controller with a built-in screen, so a phone is not required for normal flight or live viewing.
Some entry-level models, including the H16, use a phone to display the live camera view. Check the specifications of the individual model before purchasing.
Do all TODAMU drones have GPS?
No. GPS availability depends on the model.
GPS-equipped drones can provide more stable outdoor positioning and may support Return to Home, low-battery return and lost-signal return.
Models without GPS rely mainly on optical flow and altitude hold for short-range practice.
What is the difference between GPS and optical flow positioning?
GPS positioning uses satellite signals to help the drone maintain its outdoor position and record a home point.
Optical flow positioning uses a downward-facing sensor to detect the surface below the drone. It works best at a lower altitude over a clear, textured and well-lit surface.
Optical flow may be less effective over water, reflective surfaces, plain floors, moving ground or in low-light conditions.
Are TODAMU drones FPV racing drones?
Most TODAMU models are camera drones rather than manual FPV racing drones.
They provide a live camera view through the controller or phone, but they are designed mainly for stable recreational flight, travel recording and aerial photography rather than high-speed FPV freestyle flying.
First Flight and Setup
What should I check before my first flight?
- Fully charge the drone and controller batteries.
- Check that the propellers are undamaged and correctly installed.
- Remove the camera or gimbal protector.
- Insert a compatible memory card if you want to record.
- Place the drone on a flat, open surface.
- Turn on the drone and controller.
- Wait until pairing is successfully completed.
- Check the geomagnetic interference value.
- Complete compass calibration when required.
- For GPS models, wait until the home point is recorded.
Do not take off while the controller displays a connection, GPS, compass or calibration warning.
How do I turn on the WindForce X?
Unfold the drone arms and place the aircraft on a flat surface.
Press the drone power button once, then press and hold it until the drone powers on. Next, turn on the screen controller.
Keep the drone and controller close together while they establish a connection.
How do I connect the drone to the controller?
Place the drone on a flat, level surface. Turn on the drone and then turn on the controller.
Keep the drone and controller close together and wait while they pair automatically. The connection is complete when the controller displays the live camera view and flight information.
Under normal conditions, no additional settings or manual pairing steps are required.
If the drone or controller has been replaced, or if automatic pairing repeatedly fails, follow the manual re-pairing instructions in the troubleshooting section.
When do I need to re-pair the WindForce X drone and controller?
Under normal conditions, you do not need to enter Beginner Settings or manually re-pair the drone and controller each time you fly.
For normal startup, turn on the drone, turn on the controller and wait for them to pair automatically. The connection is complete when the controller displays the live camera view and flight information.
Manual re-pairing is normally required only when:
- The drone has been replaced
- The controller has been replaced
- The drone and controller cannot connect automatically
- The controller is still linked to a different aircraft
In these situations, open Beginner Settings on the controller, remove the previous aircraft connection and then start the pairing process again.
How do I unlock the WindForce X motors?
After pairing and all required calibrations are complete, move the left joystick to the lower-left corner and the right joystick to the lower-right corner at the same time.
The motors will begin to rotate. Keep your hands, clothing and loose objects away from the propellers.
Do I need to calibrate the drone before every flight?
No. You do not need to manually calibrate the drone before every takeoff.
However, compass calibration is required after changing to a different flying location, when the controller requests it, or when the geomagnetic interference value rises above 100.
If the geomagnetic interference value exceeds 100, move the drone away from vehicles, large metal objects, reinforced concrete, power lines, communication towers and other possible sources of magnetic interference.
If the value remains above 100, complete compass calibration before takeoff.
Compass calibration may also be required if the drone:
- Shows an incorrect heading
- Drifts or rotates abnormally
- Has been moved a long distance to a new flying area
- Displays a compass or geomagnetic warning
What is the difference between compass and gyroscope calibration?
Compass calibration helps the drone determine its heading and respond correctly to the surrounding geomagnetic environment.
Gyroscope calibration helps the drone recognize whether it is level and supports stable attitude control.
Compass calibration is required when the geomagnetic interference value exceeds 100, after changing flying locations, or when requested by the controller.
Gyroscope calibration should be performed on a flat, level and stationary surface when requested by the controller or when the drone does not remain level.
Where should a beginner practise flying?
Start in a wide, open area with no trees, buildings, vehicles, crowds, power lines or other obstacles nearby.
Keep the drone close, use a lower speed setting and practise takeoff, hovering, turning and landing before attempting long-distance or automatic flight modes.
When learning direction control, stand behind the drone with its rear facing you. This makes the joystick directions easier to understand.
Why must A and B propellers be installed in the correct positions?
A and B propellers rotate in different directions. Each propeller must match the corresponding A or B marking on the motor arm.
Installing the wrong propeller may cause the drone to flip over, fail to lift off or become unstable during takeoff.
Turn off the drone and remove the battery before replacing a propeller. Secure the screw firmly, but do not overtighten it.
GPS, Return to Home and Maps
What is Return to Home?
Return to Home, or RTH, allows a GPS-equipped drone to fly back toward its recorded takeoff point.
Depending on the model and flight conditions, RTH may be activated manually, when the battery becomes low or when the connection between the drone and controller is lost.
Return to Home is a flight-assistance function. It does not guarantee that the drone will avoid every obstacle or return successfully in every situation.
Will my GPS drone return automatically if the signal is lost or the battery is low?
Yes. TODAMU GPS-equipped drones automatically activate Return to Home when the connection between the drone and controller is lost.
The drone also activates low-battery Return to Home when the battery reaches the low-battery return level.
For better return accuracy, wait for a stable GPS signal before takeoff and set the Return to Home altitude higher than nearby trees, buildings, poles and other obstacles.
Why should I set a safe Return to Home altitude?
The RTH altitude should be higher than nearby trees, buildings, poles and other obstacles.
If the altitude is set too low, the drone may encounter an obstacle while flying back.
Inspect the surrounding area before takeoff and do not rely entirely on obstacle avoidance during an automatic return.
Does Todamu drone obstacle avoidance work during Return to Home?
The Todamu drone obstacle avoidance unit is mainly designed to assist while the pilot manually controls the drone with the joysticks.
Do not rely on it during Return to Home, Follow Me, Orbit or other automatic flight modes.
Set a safe return altitude and make sure the planned return route is clear before takeoff.
How do I connect the WindForce X controller to a network and load the map?
Connecting the controller to a network is different from pairing the controller with the drone.
- Turn on your phone’s personal hotspot.
- Set the hotspot frequency to 2.4 GHz.
- Open the network or Wi-Fi settings on the controller.
- Select the phone hotspot and enter the password.
- Wait until the controller confirms that it is connected.
- Open the map while the controller has internet access.
The controller can load and cache the local map for later use. It is best to load the map before travelling to an area without internet access.
Can the map help me find a lost drone?
The controller map may show the drone’s last recorded position, which can help narrow down the search area.
However, the controller is not a separate real-time GPS tracking device and cannot guarantee that the drone will be found.
Keep the drone within visual range and begin returning before the battery reaches a critically low level.
Obstacle Avoidance and Flight Safety
How does the Todamu drone obstacle avoidance unit work?
Open the protective cover on top of the drone and insert the obstacle avoidance unit firmly into the corresponding port.
After the drone is powered on, the sensor unit may rotate or move, indicating that it has received power.
During manual flight, the sensor checks the area in front of the drone. When an obstacle is detected, the drone may stop, rise or adjust its movement to reduce the chance of a direct collision.
Does the drone support 360° obstacle avoidance?
Some type of TODAMU drones support multi-directional or 360° obstacle avoidance, helping detect surrounding obstacles and reduce collision risks during flight.
Depending on the model, the sensing system can monitor the front, rear, left and right sides of the drone. When an obstacle is detected within the effective sensing range, the drone may stop, rise or adjust its flight path automatically.
Obstacle avoidance performs best during normal-speed flight in clear, well-lit environments. Detection performance may vary depending on lighting, flight speed, distance and the size or surface of the obstacle.
Are TODAMU drones water-resistant?
Some TODAMU drones feature an enclosed body design with a certain level of dust and water resistance, helping protect the internal components during outdoor use.
Depending on the model, this protective design can provide greater resistance to light moisture, light rain, snowflakes and changing outdoor conditions than a standard open-body drone.
Water resistance varies by model and should not be understood as complete waterproofing. Avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain, immersion in water, saltwater, storms or severe weather conditions.
If the drone becomes wet, turn it off, remove the battery and allow the drone to dry completely before charging or flying again.
Where should I use automatic flight modes?
Automatic flight modes such as Follow Me, Orbit and Return to Home work best in open areas with sufficient space around the drone.
Before activating an automatic flight mode, check the surrounding area and make sure the planned flight path is clear of trees, buildings, poles and other obstacles.
Camera, Gimbal and Memory Card
Is the controller live view the same quality as the saved video?
The live view displayed on the controller is compressed for wireless video transmission, helping provide a smoother and more responsive flight preview.
When the MicroSD or TF memory card is installed in the drone body, photos and videos are recorded directly from the onboard camera at the original available recording quality.
Can both the WindForce X drone and controller use a memory card?
Yes. The WindForce X drone body and screen controller both include a MicroSD or TF memory card slot.
However, the files saved by the two card positions are different in quality.
Where should I install the WindForce X memory card?
For the best recording quality, we recommend installing the memory card in the drone body.
The card installed in the drone records files directly from the onboard camera.
A card can also be installed in the screen controller, but the controller records the compressed video-transmission image rather than the direct camera file.
What is the difference between drone-side and controller-side recordings?
A memory card installed in the drone body saves the direct camera recording and provides the best available original recording quality.
A memory card installed in the screen controller saves the compressed video-transmission footage displayed by the controller.
How do I insert or remove the memory card?
Turn off the drone or controller before inserting or removing a memory card.
Align the card with the slot and gently press it inward until it clicks into place.
To remove it, press the card once and allow it to spring outward before pulling it free. Do not force the card into the slot or pull it out before it is released.
Why does the controller ask me to format the memory card?
A new card, or a card previously used in another device, may use an unsupported file system.
Back up any important files first, then use the formatting option shown on the controller.
Formatting permanently erases all files stored on the memory card.
Why is the drone-side recording clearer than the controller recording?
The controller receives a compressed image through the wireless transmission system to reduce delay and maintain a more responsive live view.
The drone-side memory card records directly from the camera, so it normally retains more detail than the controller-side recording.
What is the difference between a 3-axis gimbal and electronic stabilization?
A 3-axis mechanical gimbal physically adjusts the camera across three axes to reduce movement caused by turning, tilting and vibration.
Electronic image stabilization processes the image digitally to reduce visible movement.
A 3-axis gimbal is generally better suited to smoother aerial video, while electronic stabilization can provide additional digital correction depending on the model.
Why does my footage look tilted or shaky?
- Remove the gimbal protector before startup.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the gimbal.
- Check the propellers for bending or damage.
- Perform gyroscope or gimbal calibration when required.
- Avoid strong wind and sudden joystick movements.
- Check the drone-side memory card recording.
Do not evaluate the full camera quality only from the compressed controller preview.
Battery, Charging and Maintenance
How long does it take to charge a drone battery?
Charging time varies according to the drone model, battery capacity, charging equipment and remaining battery level.
For batteries with the corresponding charging indicator, the light may flash while charging and remain steadily lit when charging is complete.
Follow the charging instructions supplied with your specific model and use the recommended charging equipment.
Why is my actual flight time shorter than the listed maximum?
Maximum flight time is normally measured under controlled test conditions.
Actual flight time may be reduced by:
- Strong wind
- Cold weather
- High-speed flight
- Repeated climbing
- Camera recording
- Obstacle avoidance use
- Additional payload weight
- Battery age and condition
Begin returning before the battery reaches a critically low level.
How should I store the drone battery?
Remove the battery from the drone when it will not be used for an extended period.
Store it in a cool, dry and ventilated place away from direct sunlight, moisture, metal objects and flammable materials.
Do not use or store a battery that is swollen, punctured, leaking or visibly damaged.
Can I use a different charger?
Use the original charger or charging equipment that meets the exact voltage, current and connector requirements specified for the battery.
An incompatible charger may damage the battery or create a safety risk.
When should I replace the propellers?
Replace a propeller if it is cracked, bent, chipped, loose or badly scratched.
Even small damage can cause vibration, unstable hovering or poor flight performance.
Match the replacement propeller with the correct A or B motor marking.
What should I inspect after a hard landing or crash?
- Propellers and fixing screws
- Motor arms and folding joints
- Motor rotation
- Battery casing
- Camera and gimbal
- Obstacle avoidance unit
- Landing gear and body shell
Do not restart the drone if the battery is swollen, punctured, unusually hot or visibly damaged.
Troubleshooting
Why will my drone not take off?
Possible causes include:
- The battery level is too low.
- The drone and controller have not finished pairing.
- The motors have not been unlocked.
- GPS or required calibration is incomplete.
- The geomagnetic interference value is too high.
- A propeller is installed in the wrong A or B position.
- The drone is on an uneven surface.
- A motor or propeller is obstructed.
Restart the drone on a flat, open surface and follow the startup procedure again.
Why does the drone flip over during takeoff?
The most common cause is an incorrectly installed propeller.
Check that every A propeller is installed on an A-marked motor and every B propeller is installed on a B-marked motor.
Also inspect the propellers and motors for damage, looseness or obstruction.
Why does the drone drift while hovering?
Some movement is normal, especially in windy conditions.
Excessive drifting may be caused by:
- Weak GPS reception
- Unsuitable ground texture for optical flow
- Low-light conditions
- Magnetic interference
- An uneven takeoff surface
- Damaged or incorrectly installed propellers
- Incomplete compass or gyroscope calibration
Why is the GPS signal weak?
GPS signals may be blocked or reflected by buildings, trees, roofs, mountains and large metal structures.
Move outdoors to a wide, open area and allow the drone more time to acquire satellites.
Do not rely on GPS when flying indoors or very close to large structures.
Why is there no camera image on the controller?
- Make sure both the drone and controller are fully powered on.
- Wait until pairing has successfully completed.
- Check that the camera and gimbal appear undamaged.
- Keep the drone within normal connection range.
- Move away from strong wireless interference.
Restart both devices. If the problem continues, record a short video showing the issue and contact TODAMU support.
Why is the memory card not recognized?
Make sure the card is fully inserted and is compatible with the device.
Back up existing files and try formatting the card through the controller.
If it is still not recognized, turn the device off and test another compatible MicroSD or TF memory card.
Why can’t my drone reach the listed transmission distance?
Maximum transmission distances are measured in open test environments with limited interference.
Buildings, trees, hills, Wi-Fi networks, power lines, local radio interference and incorrect antenna direction can reduce the usable distance.
Keep the broad face of the controller antennas directed toward the drone rather than pointing only the antenna tips at it.
Always follow local flight rules and keep the drone within visual line of sight.
Why does the controller map not appear?
The map normally needs to be loaded while the controller has internet access.
Connect the controller to a 2.4 GHz phone hotspot, confirm the network connection and reopen the map.
Load and cache the local map before travelling to an area without internet access.
Drone Rules and Responsible Flying
What rules should I check before flying a drone in the United States?
Drone requirements in the United States can vary depending on the aircraft’s weight, how it is used and where it is flown.
Before flying, review the current FAA guidance that applies to your operation, including recreational flying requirements, registration, TRUST, airspace restrictions and Remote ID.
State, city, park and property-specific restrictions may also apply. Pilots are responsible for checking the applicable rules before each flight.

Can I fly beyond the distance where I can see the drone?
Pilots should keep the drone within visual line of sight and remain able to see its location, direction and surrounding air traffic.
A listed transmission distance is a technical test figure. It is not permission to fly beyond legal or safe visual range.
Can I fly near airports, crowds or private property?
Airspace, privacy and operating rules vary by country and location.
Check the official aviation authority and local requirements before flying. Do not fly near airports, emergency operations, restricted airspace or large crowds unless the operation is legally permitted.

How long does delivery take?
Delivery time depends on the destination country, warehouse location, selected delivery method, carrier processing and customs clearance.

When will I receive my tracking information?
Tracking information is normally sent after the order has been processed and handed to the shipping carrier.
Carrier tracking may require additional time before the first update appears.

Can I change or cancel my order?
Contact TODAMU as soon as possible after placing the order.
Address changes and cancellations cannot be guaranteed after an order has entered processing or has been shipped.
What is the TODAMU return policy?
TODAMU provides a 30-day return period, subject to the eligibility conditions in the Return & Refund Policy.
The product should normally be returned in its original condition with its included accessories and packaging. Proof of purchase may be required.

Does TODAMU provide after-sales support?
